From the foods and drinks we consume, to the air we breathe, to the products we use, there are many ways that toxins creep into our bodies.. Fortunately, a rigorous complete body detox or a week long juicing cleanse aren’t the only ways to rid the body of these harmful toxins! There are 10 simple things you can add into your daily routine to help make detoxing a part of your life.

  1. Drink More Water

Drinking water is a vital part of being healthy. Among other things, water helps move useful vitamins and minerals through the body and flush toxins through organs more efficiently. If you like lemon in your water, try it warm. The heat of the water will activate the lemon to increase the detoxification process and help with digestive problems, nausea, and heartburn.

  1. Eat Detoxing Foods

We all know diet is important. Certain foods can help detox your body! Try fruits high in antioxidants like blueberries, green vegetables with chlorophyll like kale, arugula, and spinach, and vitamin C packed citrus. A good way to incorporate a lot of these ingredients together is to make a delicious cold pressed juice. Seeds and nuts can be a good source of healthy fats and avocado and fish are good sources of omega-3 oils.

  1. Take a Detox Bath

Taking a warm bath at the end of the day is a great way to relax. Adding certain ingredients can help take it step further! Try adding Epsom salt and ginger. The ginger induces sweat and Epsom salt is a mineral that our bodies are usually deprived of. (Learn more about Epsom salt baths here.) With both, your body expels toxins through sweat, while absorbing valuable minerals at the same time.

  1. Deep Breathing Exercises

We typically take shallow breaths all day, getting just enough air. A deep breath circulates oxygen all throughout your body, relaxes, and helps the lymphatic system’s detoxification process.

  1. Exercise

This doesn’t even have to be excessive, a nice walk will do! Warming up your body will improve circulation and get your systems ready to detox. Also, toxins will escape the body through your sweat.

  1. Apple cider vinegar

Apple cider vinegar helps the body in many ways, such as alkalizing the body and help detoxing the liver. The organic, raw, and unfiltered versions are best.

  1. Inversions

Inversions, like handstands, shoulder stands, or even sticking your legs strait up into the air, reverse the force of gravity on your body. This helps activate the lymphatic system and help purify your blood.

  1. Dry Brushing

Right before your shower, dry brush your skin in long strokes towards the heart. This activates the lymphatic system and stimulates blood circulation. Detoxing the skin is important since the skin is the body’s largest organ.

  1. Maintain a Healthy Home

Make sure your home isn’t toxifying your body. Adding natural air filtering plants like ferns and palms can help. Be sure to change air filters regularly and avoid using harsh cleaning chemicals.

  1. Use a Tongue Scrapper

This is an extra easy one. Your tongue is covered with bacteria and toxic debris, so scrapping it can help make sure your body doesn’t absorb all of that gunk. Some tooth brushes conveniently come with tongue scrappers on the back. A couple scrapes after brushing will do, and it will help freshen your breath too.

Try any of these easy ideas to help detox your body of harmful toxins. Our bodies pick up toxins from normal everyday life, do your liver a favor and help it detoxify! Plus, you don’t have to do them every day, sprinkle some little detoxing activities throughout your week. Happy detoxing!
