Sabra Shares how natural foods can help your digestive issues

Your gut health needs to get extra special care. IN FACT, did you know that 60 to 70 million people are affected by digestive diseases each year!

The truth is, a healthy digestive tract is the gatekeeper of good health!

NATURAL /  WHOLE / LIVING / LOCAL

Natural –

Foods provided to us by nature are perfectly designed to help our bodies thrive and are in their untouched state. They provide us with maximum nutrients that help sustain and energize our bodies. When identifying natural foods, think not man-made, not factory-made and not infused with additives or hormones.

Whole –
Stick with plant-foods that have been unprocessed and unrefined, such as whole grains, legumes, fruits, nuts, seeds and vegetables. Here’s why: these foods are not altered very much, meaning they remain close to their native state.

Living
Plants-based foods are considered raw and alive when uncooked. These vibrant foods contain a wide range of vital life force nutrients (ie. vitamins, minerals, amino acids and live enzymes). Incorporating living foods daily can bring immediate health and monumental changes to your energy levels. Raw foods include sprouted nuts, seeds, grasses, seaweeds, fresh fruits, vegetables, microalgae (such as spirulina and chlorella, etc) and cold pressed juices.

Local
There are so many incentives to buying local. For starters,  these foods are fresher because local produce cuts down on travel time from farm to table and don’t have to be brought in from far. It’s also much more cost-effective to purchase organic foods when shopping at your local farmer’s market. And as an added bonus, you’re helping the local economy and independent farmers thrive..

Aside from using the NWLL to streamline my food intake and gut health, I incorporated Aloe Vera juice into my diet!

PRO TIP!! Aloe Vera has a gelatinous coat that helps soften and protect the intestinal lining. Aloe vera is an incredible medicinal plant full of nutritional benefits.  It’s so powerful for our health in fact, I wrote a whole blog post on it. One of my favorite ways to enjoy Aloe Vera is in a delicious smoothie!

Here’s my go-to recipe:

– ¼ cup filleted aloe vera gel

– 1 large ripe banana

– ½ cup frozen strawberries

– ¼ cup ice

– 1 ½ cup coconut milk

– 2 tbl of raw honey

Blend all ingredients for 2 min, serve in cup and enjoy the benefits of this soothing gut smoothie. #tastetruewellness!
